Thursday, September 26th, 1861.

	Killed a beef steer that I bought from Mrs. E. E. Wright
at 15$    Sold Dr. W. T. Thomas one qr hind qr of beef at 5 cts 
per lb, it weighted 90 lbs $4.50 or   Sold J. Leviton one hind
qr of beef at 5 cts per lb it weighed 98 pounds   It has rained
all day today and raining yet 8 oclock   W. B. Freeman was 
here today    R. R. and C. L. Ingram was here   they come for 
beef   Aunt is not quite so ill and cross as usual  I mist the
fevor today

Saturday, September 28th, 1861.

	I went to cousin John Donalson   taken dinner with Dr.
Thomas  Aunt Nancy was very ill this morning   picked peas

Sunday, September 29th, 1861.

	Mr. Eastling preached   a good congregation was in 
attendance   William B. Freeman and family was here for dinner
I called at Mr. H. Thomas at Mr. B. B. Wright and Mr. W. C. Thomas

Monday, September 30th, 1861.

	Hauled the negroes rice out of the field   turned the 
hogs in the corn field

Tuesday, October 1st, 1861.

	Commenced ginning   rained one half of day  William
Mills and his son is here

Wednesday, October 2nd, 1861.

	Was election day but little electioneering in Decature
I went to Bainbridge   saw a good many of my old friends and 
acquaintances  Rain today and warm weather  I come by Mothers
found Bro Rafe very sick  Come by to see Mr. L. Sanders
and he was sick   Aunt N very cross & mad with me  No peace for
Jo I

Thursday, October 3rd, 1861.

	Packed one bale of cotton   no rain  Aunt very cross and mad
gives Jo down the country again  I was too mad to be healthy
today    The old black ox got sick

Friday, October 4th, 1861.

	Rain   Aunt very pleasant   Had Lew whipped for the first
time in a years

Saturday, October 5th, 1861.

	Grandfather Butler come here   I borrowed 1$ for him
Paid my tax amount $8.50  Borrowed a dollar from Aunt Nancy
& returned it again the same day   Aunt Nancy is in a good humor
Gathered August corn today   he had an ox cart full of corn about
15 bushells

Sunday, October 6th, 1861.

	Mr. Fag preached at the Fowlstown church   My little sister
and Bro Dan went to Mr. W. B. Thomas   J. F. Stanton had a sing 
in the evening at the church  Misses C and A H Thomas
Misses S   C  and M    Fain and Misses M J and E Shaw of the
ladies was at the sing    The gentlemen was T. D. and L. J. Sanders
J. Askin  T. J. Smith  W. Thomas  A Shaw  Mr. Albert  Dr. W. T.
Thomas & three or four little boys   a ver heavy rain fell
very warm   Aunt was sick and some what mad

Monday, October 7th, 1861.

	H. B. Waugh sent and got 3 head of cattle   Jos Butler hauled
one load of cotton it weighed 287 pounds   Raised a conn hous
for Aunt Nancy   No rain but very warm and cloudy  Aunt seemed to
be in a very good humor  A good deal of passing   Dr. Butler
stoped and talked to the negroes in my presence & did not speak
to me

Tuesday, October 8th, 1861.

	No rain cool and pleasant  Aunt is not so ill as common
Hariet is taken sick  Covered the corn hous  Jos Butler fetched
his last load of cotton to the gin   Mr. J. Donalson old Alec
came here today   Old John Golden eate dinner here   T. D. Sanders
called a few minutes & told me the arrangements for Kings company
Wm B. Freeman is here to knight

Wednesday, October 9th, 1861.

	No rain but cool and pleasant   Aunt Nancy is very pleasant
it uncommon for her to be so   I went to cousin John Donalsons
and spaid 19 sows for him  marked and cut several boars   Dr. W. T.
Thomas was there   he is sick  Old L. Brian and his wife eate
dinner here   Uncle John Ingram went to the factory to get some
wool carded  I stoped at mothers a few minutes  Bro Rafe was 
very unwell  the rest are well as common

Thursday, October 10th, 1861.

	No rain cool and pleasant  Aunt Nancy went to Bainbridge
and to the factory to sell some cotton   sold one bale that 
weighed 600 pounds at 9 cts per pound   Got a letter from 
Bro W. J. who is in the army in Va  Hauled five loads of corn
from the upper part of Aunt Nancys plantation   Aunt Nancy
come home somewhat mad   W. B. Freeman come here to fetch
Aunt some beef   Jos Butler got his       cotton today
