Saturday, March 23r, 1861.

	I went to mill and saw Rafe   John Fain piled logs   Finished
planting ground peas   Ellen Freeman, Nancy and little Billy
Freeman was here
	J. F. Stanton went to Bainbridge   J. E. Dodd went too
I saw T Godden     We put up hand railings to the new steps at the 
new hous
	Aunt Nancy got in one of her frets and give everything Dinkey
as she calls it    Dodd had a fstulor (*next word illegible) that 
coodnt be draw
	A good rain  a little

Sunday, March 24th, 1861.

	Mr. Mosley preached at the Baptist church
	The day was warm and pleasant and Nancy was calm
	I called at Wm Mitchells in the afternoon and found all the
family at home and others the names as follows s. Barineau, Miss
C. B- E. Woodered, J. Whaly, J. Thomas a Mr. King and Der Misses 
Thomas   From thence I went to Mr. B,s for supper and then returned
at 10,Oclock

Monday, March 25th, 1861.

	Layed 2 turning shovels for W. B. Freeman   Rolled logs in
the new ground    J. F. Stanton commenced going to school to school in
Fowltown
	No one came today   I and Mr. Dodd went to Mr. Thomas to knight
and Rev. Mosley was there and W. D. Thom also James Thomas
	The Malitia of Dec Co, went into camps today and my Brother
Wm J. Ingram was among them.

Tuesday, March 26th, 1861.

	Commenced planting cotton and rice
	Dined at home and teh table was suptious with an old (illegible)
hen from Dr. Bill
	Aunt Nancy hurt her back again and suffered a good deal all
night with it.

Wednesday, March 27th, 1861

	Aunt Nancy very ill today again
	I called Freemans Dr. Laws and got no Dr.'s note for $7.12 1/2
	Saw Brown Griffin from Bainbridge stated that all the troops
were in camps   Ellen Freeman was here today   Aunts back is very
painful
	Met 5 ladies awalking onmy return from the field in the
evening
	Shot 3 times and killed 2 Squirel    went after the cows
	Jake carried cousin Elin home and a little way back made old
Sucky june round

Thursday, March 28th, 1861

	Dodd got very mad with J. Griffin about not paying school
account    Aunt is better   E Freeman was here   Mrs. Jones came to
by corn    I went to Mr. Munnerlyns early this morning 
Mattie McLauchlyn went to Bainbridge   Killed a thrash
Turned out the ewes and lambs in the woods come home to dinner.

Friday, March 29th, 1861.

	Dr. W. T. Thomas and his wife was here  we was served with a
green peach pie   Dodd Thomas mad friends  old Mr. Thomas called
this morning    finished the old gra cotton    hawled straw this
evening   Matterson Ingram and Henry Griffin had a fight at the 
school.

Saturday, March 30th, 1861.

	After supper we made an eggnog  Jernigan the strict horseman
was here   The troops of Decature County left Bainbridge in rout
for Macon    from thence to Pensacola   long may secession's
banner wave and long live the Dec Troops

Sunday, March 31st, 1861.

	Went to C. J. Munnerlyns    Mother and Sis and Martha J.
Ingram was here    Dr. W. T. Thomas and his wife Archibald
McLauchlyn and his wife was here    Wm B. Freeman and family was
here   John Wright and wife was here and Miss Rebecca Ea- was
her and J. F. Stanton was compleatly carried a way with her he
nearly        I went with her to the steep head on her way home.
