Berry Hill was born between 1800 and 1810. He had 7 people in his household in 1834. He is credited with building the first house in Cumming.

George Hallman Hotel. George Washington Hallman and his wife Margaret Bailey Hallman had the Hallman Hotel from 1850 through at

least 1870. The Hallmans came here from Shelby, N.C., after 1843. Their son John C. Hallman was prominent in the development of Atlanta after the Civil War.
