(Henderson and Milly Eakes were the parents of two boys. Rev. Robert Anderson Eakes, was born 30 May 1835, in Gainesville, Georgia. His brother Rev. Marion H. Eakes was born in Cumming, 22 Sep 1839. Henderson Eakes died about 1841 or 1842. The boys worked hard to support the family. Robert carried bricks and then worked as a blacksmith. Robert A. married 2 Sep 1858 to Nancy J. Sims. They had seven children. He married a second time, 16 Jan 1895, Mrs. Ellen Roberts. He died 9 Nov 1899. Marion was wounded in the face at Vicksburg, and carried the scar thereafter. He died in Bishop, Georgia, 28 Jan 1912).

p. 312 Homestead Exemption Book 170' x 196' Elizabeth Cantrell, deserted wife of Wilson Cantrell; three affidavits that the last time Wilson Cantrell was seen, he had been shot in the head, at Vicksburg, during the Civil War, and they were hauling him to the hospital.
It is assumed that he lays to rest in an unmarked grave. Elizabeth had to claim "desertion" in order to get her homestead exemption.

Born at Rock Mills, now Anderson District, South Carolina, on 14 Jun 1815. He came to Cumming in 1841, to practice medicine. He married Evalina J. Lenoir. They had four boys. He died from the aftermath of a fever he had contracted 16 months before
